Service Provider Disclosure
In short: NorthLine is who you contact. Depending on availability and service area, we may carry out the work ourselves, or refer your request to an independent local service provider. Where a request is referred, that provider contacts you directly, confirms the price with you and performs the work.
1. How NorthLine operates
NorthLine Garage Doors (“NorthLine”, “we”, “us”) serves Queens, Long Island and Staten Island. We provide residential garage door repair and related services directly, and we also refer service requests to independent local service providers. When you contact us by telephone, through this website, or by any other channel, your request comes to NorthLine.
Depending on your location, the nature of the work and current availability, we may carry out the work ourselves, or we may refer your request to a qualified independent local service provider in your area. Independent providers are separate businesses, not NorthLine employees, and NorthLine does not direct the manner or means by which they carry out the work. Where a request is referred, that provider contacts you directly and deals with you under its own business name.
2. Who may arrive at your property
Where a job is fulfilled by an independent provider, that provider may use their own vehicle, equipment, workwear and invoicing, which may differ in appearance from NorthLine’s own branding. This is normal where a request has been referred and does not indicate that anything has gone wrong. If you would like confirmation of who is attending, call us on (516) 687-6171 before the appointment.
Photography, vehicles, uniforms and imagery shown on this website are illustrative of the NorthLine brand and the standard of service we arrange. They should not be taken as a representation that any particular vehicle, individual or livery will attend your property.
3. Information about the provider attending
Where an independent provider attends, you are always welcome to ask them for their applicable licensing and insurance information before authorising work, and we encourage it:
- ask to see the provider’s licence and proof of insurance;
- confirm the identity of the business that will invoice you;
- ask for the price in writing and read it before agreeing;
- confirm the warranty terms, who provides them, and how to claim;
- ask any questions about scope, parts or price before work begins.
Anyone legitimate will supply this without hesitation. You are under no obligation to authorize work, and you may decline at any point before it begins.
4. Referred jobs: what the provider determines
Where NorthLine refers your request to an independent provider, that provider contacts you directly and exercises independent judgement over, and is responsible for, the following:
- diagnosis of the fault and the recommended remedy;
- estimates, quotations, pricing, fees and any surcharges;
- parts, materials, equipment and brands supplied;
- labour, workmanship and the standard of the work performed;
- scheduling, arrival windows and time on site;
- invoicing, payment methods, payment terms and collection;
- compliance with licensing, permitting, insurance and applicable law in the jurisdiction where the work is performed.
Where work is performed by an independent provider, the contract for that work is formed between you and the provider on the terms you approve.
5. No guarantee of availability or outcome
Availability varies by area, time of day and demand. NorthLine does not guarantee that a provider will be available in your area, that a request will be accepted, that any particular arrival window will be met, or that any particular outcome will be achieved. Statements about typical response times on this website describe general expectations only and are not commitments.
6. Allocation of responsibility
Where a request has been referred and the work is performed by an independent provider, the agreement for that work is between you and that provider, and responsibility for those services rests with that provider to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. This includes the quality of workmanship, the accuracy of pricing, and any loss, damage, injury or dispute arising from the work.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, NorthLine disclaims liability for the acts, omissions, conduct, pricing, workmanship, timeliness, licensing status or insurance status of any independent provider.
Nothing in this disclosure is intended to exclude or limit any liability which cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or to affect any statutory right you have as a consumer under the law of your jurisdiction, including under New York consumer protection law.
7. Concerns and complaints
If something has gone wrong, contact the provider who performed the work first — they are best placed to resolve it. We would also like to hear from you. Email service@northlinegaragedoors.com or call (516) 687-6171.
8. Warranty
Warranty coverage and duration vary depending on the repair performed and the parts used. A spring, an opener and a cable may carry different cover.
The terms that apply to your job — what’s covered, for how long, and any limitations or exclusions — are explained to you before you approve the work, and are set out with your estimate.
For work carried out directly by NorthLine, contact us at service@northlinegaragedoors.com or call (516) 687-6171. Have your invoice or job reference to hand.
Where your request was referred to an independent provider, that provider is responsible for its own workmanship and any warranty it offers, and its invoice will show how to reach it. If you cannot reach them, contact us and we will help you make contact.
9. Changes
We may update this disclosure from time to time. The version published on this page at the time of your request applies to that request.
